New Facilities Director Dan Polvere Brings Expertise in Operations Management to The Salvation Army Kroc Center
As the Kroc Center moves closer to opening day, a team of highly qualified professionals is being put into place to ensure a smooth transition from construction site to daily operations. This team includes Dan Polvere, the Kroc Center’s new Facilities Director.
“When I became aware of the Kroc Center, I just knew I had to be a part of this colossal project,” said Dan. “This will be a whole new chapter of my life, taking what I’ve learned working in sports facilities and applying it to a recreational center.”
Dan came to the Kroc Center from the International Facilities Group (IFG), where he served as project manager for Metro Bank Park, home to the minor league baseball team the Harrisburg Senators. Previously, he served as Director of Development and Facilities at U.S. Cellular Field. He began his career in operations with the Chicago White Sox in 1988.
According to Dan, a major recreational hub like the Kroc Center runs very similarly to a ballpark. A long-term goal of his is to help area youth who come to the Kroc Center learn about careers in sports facilities management. “The most practical job in sports isn’t being a second baseman with a major league team,” said Dan. “The most practical jobs in sports are real jobs that anyone with a college degree can get. We’re going to have this dynamite sports facility and I want to see people learning the skills they need to have a great job like mine in the future.”
